Weston Manufacturing | 100% Lyocell Spunlace Wound Care Wipes Medical-Grade Nonwoven Fabric

A medical-grade, 100% lyocell spunlace nonwoven wipe engineered for wound cleansing, clinical skin care, and sensitive-tissue applications — combining botanical softness with certified safety performance.

Why This Fabric Performs

Pure Lyocell Composition With No Fluorescent Contamination

Made entirely from wood-pulp-derived lyocell fiber, with no polyester blending, no chemical binders, and no migratable fluorescent brighteners detected (YY0331-2006). This makes the fabric suitable for direct contact with open or compromised skin.

993% Water Absorption Capacity

Tested absorption reaches 993% (GB/T 24218.6, standard requirement ≥700%), meaning the wipe holds nearly 10 times its own weight in liquid. For wound irrigation, antiseptic application, or exudate management, this translates to fewer wipe changes and less disruption to healing tissue.

Tensile Strength Built for Clinical Handling

Tensile strength measures 95 N/5cm in the machine direction and 83.5 N/5cm in the cross direction, with elongation at break of 25.7% (MD) and 33.6% (CD). The fabric resists tearing under clinical pressure while conforming naturally to body contours.

Neutral pH and Low Moisture Regain

Tested neutral pH (YY0331-2006) and 8.3% moisture regain (within the ≤13% standard) support a low-irritation profile for sensitive and broken skin. 87% whiteness (GB/T 7974-2013) is achieved without optical brighteners.

Lyocell Compostability Certification

Weston holds a lyocell compostability certificate, giving healthcare and consumer-facing buyers a documented sustainability claim alongside clinical-grade performance.

FAQ

Is this product a medical device, or a textile raw material?

Weston supplies a dry nonwoven substrate with no liquid formulation. It is a medical-grade raw material, not a registered medical device in itself. Customers converting it into a finished medical wipe (e.g., an antiseptic wipe) are responsible for any required registration in their target market (such as Class II medical device registration in China or FDA 510(k) clearance).

Is stock available across the full 30-120 g/m² range?

Standard stocked weights are 40, 50, 70, and 90 g/m². Other weights are produced to order, with MOQ and lead time depending on volume. Contact the Weston sales team for current stock availability.

What’s the functional difference between plain and mesh texture?

Plain texture has a smoother, more even surface, suited to clinical care and sensitive-skin cleansing where touch feel matters. Mesh texture offers higher surface friction, useful for applications requiring faster liquid penetration or light exfoliation, such as wound irrigation support. Core physical properties are similar between the two; the choice depends on end-use.

What roll widths and lengths are available for jumbo rolls?

Standard widths are 160 cm and 240 cm. Roll length is customizable based on basis weight and customer requirements. Please specify target basis weight, width, and desired roll weight (kg) when requesting a quote.

What standard does the compostability certification cover?

Weston’s current lyocell compostability certification applies to industrial composting conditions. If a specific market standard is required (e.g., EN 13432, DAKKS), please indicate the target market when inquiring so Weston can confirm certificate scope or assist with additional certification.
